Upcoming Ecclesiastial Embroidery Events at the Victorian and Albert Museum

Oh I just wish I could hop on a plane and visit Great Britain! For many years, I have longed to go there. That desire is even stronger than usual with this upcoming class scheduled for October:

The Giants of the Gothic Revival: Watts & Co from Pugin to Comper workshop that will be held at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Sat 25 October 2014 at 10:30. Select the link below to learn more about the programs:

To think, a chance to see, hear and learn about the works from one of the top vestment houses that produced the Ecclesiastical Embroidery and Church Vestments for some of the top designers of ages past. And all of this at one of the greatest museums, housing some very famous pieces of Ecclesiastical Sewing and Ecclesiastical Embroidery in it’s collection…..Well, I will have to keep checking back on the V & A Museum website.  Maybe with any luck they might offer another class sometime in the future.  I guess I might have to settle for ordering the Watts book from Amazon.

At some point in the future, I will share my favorite photos of several pieces that were made at Watts and Co around the time of World War I. The story of the original making and restoration of these pieces is absolutely fascinating. The Ecclesiastical Design,  Ecclesiastical Embroidery, the Goldwork embroidery, choice of Ecclesiastical Fabric and finished church vestments are noted as being some of the finest work ever done during that era.   Until then, happy travels to those of you fortunate enough to attend the class.

Soli Deo Gloria!
