Shining Silver – Stars?

Goldwork embroidery gathers a great deal of attention from across the web.  It is so beautiful and elegant. Goldwork Embroidery has a regal look to it when gold threads are used in Ecclesiastical Sewing. But – what about silver threads? Do we every hear the words Silverwork Embroidery?

The oft forgotten silver threads: they are stunning.  They shimmer and shine in their own special light. Delicate and dainty is the Queen, Silver Elizabethan Twist. “To tarnish or non- tarnish” that is the question of the Silver smooth passing threads, the finer with the silk thread core. Not to be forgotten is the Silver Check Thread.

Variety is the key to their beauty. Although limited in-depth when compared to their shinier gold cousins, their beauty is all their own.

The old familiar faces are here in pearl purl and spangles. Plus a few unique combination characters.

Some silver threads love to squiggle and squirm, yet are so delicately delightful. They are often overshadowed by bolder bundles.

Some are a little unruly.

Others know how to behave well and charm!

These silver thread beauties need to be handled with care. They keep their shine and kinks stay out when they are kept under wraps in their own little boxes.

What’s there not to like about these silver beauties?  Perhaps it is time to step out of the comfort zone to give these lovely silverwork threads a try with Ecclesiastical Sewing and Ecclesiastical Embroidery designs for church needlework.
