O Emmanuel – O God with Us O Antiphon for December 23

O Emmanuel – O God with Us. What comfort those words bring if we stop to think about them. God with us.

Latin Text:

O Emmanuel, Rex et legifer noster,

exspectatio Gentium, et Salvator earum:

veni ad salvandum nos, Domine, Deus noster.

English Text:

O Emmanuel, our king and our lawgiver,

the hope of the nations and their Saviour:

Come and save us, O Lord our God.

Isaiah had prophesied:

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child

and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7: 14

The hymn verse for today is:

O Emmanuel, our king and our Lord,

the anointed for the nations and

their | Savior.*

Come and save us, O | Lord our God.

The symbol used for O Emmanuel is a manger with a flowering rose. The rose is a Messianic Rose. With great joy and anticipation, we join the prophet in singing, O Come, Emmanuel – come and save us, O Lord, our God.

The collection of O Antiphon designs are simple ways to enhance a worship space. The banners may be hung from pillars as shown in the photo, or by some other way of your selection. The banners a simple to create for those who like to sew for their church. The banners are a great way of teaching for both young and old. Individuals, churches and pastors may have a great time doing their own study of these designs, prophecies, texts, and illustrations.

Wishing all great joy as we await the birth of Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria

With apologies for the delay in completing the series – we are caring for our dog who was hit by a car and is unable to walk for now.
